M. ZACHARY BLUESTONE
Principal
A major portion of Mr. Bluestone's practice is focused on complex international and domestic debt recovery and contract disputes including federal and state court litigation dealing with such issues as international jurisdiction, international conventions such as the CISG (U.N. Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods) and the New York Convention, and domestication of cross-border judgments and arbitration awards. He also uses his experience in global debt recovery to participate in training sessions on behalf of the International Trade Division of the US Small Business Administration to assist its programs in educating community banks in establishing international lending underwriting standards and monitoring programs.
Mr. Bluestone also heads the firm's division representing professional basketball and volleyball players who are owed money by teams outside of the U.S. He works closely with athletes and sports agents as well as with BLI affiliated law firms around the world, which assist in the firm's recovery efforts - be they through amicable negotiation, litigation or arbitration.
On the home front, Mr. Bluestone also advises clients newly involved with establishing business entities and relationships and assists with negotiation on his clients' behalf as well as drafts documentation providing for the creation of new enterprises.
Mr. Bluestone travels extensively meeting with existing and new clients, as well as represents the firm internationally, including recent conferences in Chile, France, and the Czech Republic, which has provided him with the experience and background to be one of the firm's senior members involved in sourcing new client relationships and creating custom practices for various types of debt portfolios.
Mr. Bluestone is a 2007 graduate of Rutgers School of Law - Camden, where he specialized in international law and business transactions, and related courses. During his tenure at Rutgers, he was a legal intern for the Honorable Judith H. Wizmur, Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey, located in Camden, New Jersey.
